TROPPO SAMOA FISHING REPORT AUG 2024
The continuation of strong to extreme easterly trade winds has continued to hamper all fishing. There have only been a few days of relative calm, fishable conditions with only the larger boats in the fleet being able to fish. Team Troppo reports that when they have been able to go offshore their anglers are experiencing some terrific fishing. Blue marlin, black marlin and sailfish are being tagged and released while steady catches of mahi mahi and wahoo are being landed along the 2000m line. Inshore, big spaniash mackerel and solid dogtooth tuna are being caught over the 30m bombies and giant trevally are being popped and released over the shallower reef systems.
As we head into September and onto October, the bite will continue to be steady. Marlin, mahi mahi, wahoo and sailfish will be found schooling of the coast of Apia. By chasing the full moon, anglers will be rewarded with good catches of Spaniards when trolling along the outer edges of the fringing reef. While those chasing GT’s and doggies will find increased action as we head into summer.
